Wouldn’t it be beneficial for a guild to be able to invest in something and cash in on that investment?
What better an investment than your guilds fighting prowlness, eh?
So here’s the idea:

There is a guild bank that you can put money in.
For each win in GvG you get a return on your investment.
An example:
If you put in 100g and your guild fights another guild that is around the same rank as yours you would get a 10% profit from that match. You can now withdraw 110g from your guild bank.
If your guild fights a higher ranked guild maybe they can get 25% profit.
If your guild loses then nothing gained nothing lost.
Also, your guild can set a tax (probably for a fixed low percentage) to profits that must be spent towards guild hall upgrades, sigils or invites.

The big issues could become smurfing.
A smurf guild could invest high, win large and cash in.
I can think of three things that could keep them in check.
One - the rules set in place by Anet for the GvG league. (If you get caught smurfing your out of the finals)
Two - a time requirement in how long you must be in a guild before you can withdraw from the guild bank.
Maybe you have to be in a guild for 2 months before you can withdraw any money you’ve invested. If you quit a guild before you withdraw you lose your money and it goes towards the guild tax.
Three – Limited investment. A member can only stash a fixed amount, say 100k into a guild bank. That 100k comes directly out of their own personal storage vault. If your guild earns money you get only what you can hold.

Here’s a complementary idea I had sometime ago that could fare well with the one I just mentioned because it’s about winning a pot that players bet on. This way players could set up matches of their choosing and bet whether or not they will win or lose.

Quote:
Let’s have player created GvG matches and tournaments.
If a group it’s forming their own match or tournament they need to find players.
It might look something like this:

Clan Crisco [clen] 1050
[6 players ready]

Pot: 500g per player
2.5k to 1st place
1k to 2nd place
500g to 3rd place

Type: 6vs6 Tourney
Map: (some made up Tourney maps)
Campaign: _Prophesies xFactions _Any _All

Versus: Noob Guild [omg]
Versus: Club NugNug [nug]
Versus: open
Rating: 1050 to 1060

Invites: _None xAlliance _Any

Entrees:

Noob Guild [omg] 1050
[6 players ready]

Club NugNug [nug] 1056
[4 players ready]

Nickel Bag [funk] 1060
[5 players ready]

[4 guild entrees left]

---------------------------------------------

Clan Crisco [clen] 1050
[4 players ready]

Pot: 50g per player
100g to winner

Type: 4vs4 Match
Map: Select
Campaign: _Prophesies _Factions _Any xAll

Versus: Lil Aunty [ant]
Rating: fixed

Invites xNone _Alliance _Any

Entrees:

Lil Aunty [ant] 1051
[3 players ready]

If your guild meets the rating requirements anyone in your guild can see the challenge. The guild that sets the challenge accepts the others that are willing to join.
Even with this set up, it would pretty hard to set up a tourney. Over time it could be used as a tool to sponsor big money tournament events. Setting versus matches should be quick and easy.

Errm my guild invested in materials and it paid off with the drought in Cantha *shrugs* That money is going towards things our guild wants... But yes I could see where it would be beneficial, just likely more complicated then you make it sound.

Bad idea. What's to prevent say a r500 guild from starting GvGs, rage quitting, and repeating till they're rank 7000+? Nothing. They could then earn their way back to their previous postition, and do the same thing again..

Another bad idea. You can only carry 100k. This would make it extremely pointless to put in alot of money, or leave any money there for long.

Another thing here is it should be the members who participated in that particular GvG(if this were implimented), and no one else. Otherwise a guild could simply allow someone to join for a large fee, then that person could make money off them, while providing them with tax... Yet another bad idea.

Not to mention if the player has to put money into this, if they're kicked before they can withdrawl lets say, anet would get quite a few very, very angry players.

I'm not totaly against the idea of a guild being able to earn in-game gold via succesful GvGing, but I'm not for this idea as-is.

Any idea regarding this needs alot of work, and there really aren't any great ways to impliment this(now) without absolutly screwing somthing up.

The pointlessness of putting a lot of money into a guild is to improve ones wealth while being in a guild without adding the incentive to smurf.
The better way to farm money through GvG would be through my alternative suggestion in player created matches.
The low tax I suggested was just a minor incentive for team work, but it can be omitted.

It’s the money you would carry in your storage where the 100k would come from.
You reduce your personal xunlai storage capacity for every 1gold you place in the guild bank though some direct trasfer.
Ideally, according to how Ive set up the idea, you would invest a max amount of about 70k or so and pull out 20k from your guild bank into your personal bank as your investment reached around 90k.
The point of it all is, to exceed your accounts potential wealth you would need to invest in rare items once your account is maxed in gold. The guild bank adds nothing to your accounts ablity to carry gold.

Then the suggestion to be added to this is one that prevents players from losing money for being kicked.

I thought the conservative winnings, including the policies for smurfing, would be incentive to not smurf, but I didnt do the math so this has merit.

I can think of a few ways around it, so the potentual may be there.
But the complications in making it work is only worthy to those that think this is an idea worth having.

If there a few complications in having this, is it worth having?

I do have an idea for preventing "smurf" guilds from doing that, simply make the amount of gold increase proportionaly depening on the rating of your guild(more $$$ at higher rating), and the rating of your opponent(low rating=less $$$, higher rating= more $$$).

But with those clarifications it actualy sounds pretty good.

So /signed

Alternative Idea:

Allow individual players to bet their own Faction Points or gold in 12v12 (during the waiting time)

-They can only win if they win the match.
-Normal win pays 2:1
-Post Domination: Act of capturing all posts and holding them, pays 4:1.
-Bet limit is 2k Faction and 3k gold.
